Music Industry Creative and Direction

I realize that I am not the only person who once believed that Los Angeles was waiting for me. I had been told enough times that I had what it took to be the next SUPER STAR that I believed all I had to do was move to L.A. I had no idea that it would never be that easy. I figured there was nothing to it. I had the talent, I had the look and I was passionate. I would get off the plane sing a few places and “someone” would recognize me right away and wonder why I wasn’t signed yet to a major label. Well many “someone’s” came along but the dreams that I had never met reality. A completely different reality set in. The people who can sign you and help build your career are not easy to find. However, if you are handling your business those industry executives will come looking for you!

You have to be multi-faceted. Because of new technology you don’t have to rely on the major labels. You have to be creative in being successful in music “business”.
You may not be a Rock Star but you don’t have to be a teacher. There are many other options. Create, compose and record for film, commercial, video games etc.

You may end up using your gifts and talents to be successful in music business but it may not be in the way you dreamed of once reality sets in. However you can still be creative, successful and enjoy your career.

I have so much music that I will no longer use for myself because I have moved around different genres of music. None of that music is wasted material because at some point it may be very valuable for someone else and can be used for business.

The future is so much brighter for those who are aware of opportunities when they arise. You have to make a way to turn opportunities into revenue. You must be driven to succeed in your craft and art.

What is a cue sheet? ASCAP has a page on their website that explains everything you need to know about a cue sheet. Plus, they show you a sample cue sheet and a blank one if needed.
The greatest thing I just learned is to get educated
